BodyTalk – Helping Your Body to Heal Itself
By Eleanor Ng, BA, B.Ed, CBP
What if someone told you that by talking to the body, it would be able to tell you what to do to help it to heal itself? Hard to believe? Think again! Your body has the “innate wisdom” to heal itself. When we cut ourselves, the body automatically knows what to do to heal the cut. You didn’t tell it to heal the cut. It knew how to do it automatically.
In BodyTalk, the body is viewed as many different systems working together in synchronicity, one with another. Stress on the body can cause communication breakdowns in the body which affect us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This impairs the synchronicity of the body’s systems and can result in illness and disease.
BodyTalk is a revolutionary form of integrative healthcare that assists the body to heal itself. It is a consciousness based health care system. “Consciousness is what animates all parts of the bodymind, right down to the cellular level.” (BodyTalk Fundamentals by Dr. John Veltheim and Sylvia Muiznieks) It is this “consciousness” or “innate wisdom” of the bodymind which enables the body to heal a cut. Using a BodyTalk exploration procedure and a neuromuscular feedback technique, to obtain “Yes” and “No” answers from the “innate wisdom” of the body, the areas that the body views as needing communication restored are identified. The body “knows” what areas are priority for it as well as in what sequence those areas in the body need linking up.
A gentle tapping on the head, tells the brain to repair the communication links. A gentle tapping on the heart is done to help the body remember the new communication links.
The BodyTalk system was developed by Dr. John Veltheim in the early 1990s. He had his own clinic in Brisbane, where he practiced acupuncture, Chinese medicine, chiropractic and naturopathy. He contracted Epstein Barr Virus and was told by his medical doctors that he might not live. He tried many alternative health care treatments but to no avail. Finally, he found someone in New Zealand who was healing people by using a tapping technique on the head. The technique was very simple. A small drop of blood was placed in his navel and his head was tapped. Three days later, Dr. Veltheim no longer had the virus.
Dr. Veltheim was very excited with the results and spent time to investigate and research more regarding this simple technique. This led to his development of additional techniques that seemed to get marvellous results in a variety of conditions and diseases. These techniques became the basis for the first BodyTalk Seminar which was taught in 1995.
In BodyTalk there is no treatment or diagnosis. It simply uses the body’s “innate wisdom” to help the body to heal itself. It also works with other health modalities to improve the health of the body. Conditions that typically improve with BodyTalk are the following: allergies, depression, headaches/migraines, sports performance, back pain, pre-natal care, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis, insomnia, digestive disorders, phobias, emotional disturbances, viruses and infections, stress/anxiety, recovery after injuries/traumas and much more.
“The principles of BodyTalk are based on proven scientific facts and leading edge discoveries. It is a new way of addressing our well-being in the future. BodyTalk opens an unlimited collection of energetic possibilities for us to heal on many levels.” Dr. Amit Gowswami Ph.D. Quantum Physicist, Professor Emeritus University of Oregon.
“I haven’t felt better in over 5 years. I am not as depressed. I feel more relaxed and I can breathe a bit deeper. I am also sleeping better at night.” Donna Craig, New Liskeard
“On September 24th 2011 my mother suffered a stroke and heart attack, leaving her pretty much blind, speechless and without basic motor skills and walking ability. After each session of Body Talk, whilst tapping everyday in between, positive changes began to occur. Today just over a month since the stroke the only elements left of the stroke are mental: loss of memory and general lack of understanding of her surroundings. We continue Body Talk and are hopeful that along with conventional medicine we are able to continue to help mom help herself.” Liana O’Connor, Kirkland Lake
"I was diagnosed with lupus in 2005. I have suffered from aches and pains due to arthritis, flu-like symptoms such as chronic fatigue, weakness and malaise. The lupus has for the past couple of years,
attacked my kidneys and I was looking at a transplant in the future. In the Spring of 2010, I started BodyTalk sessions and have eliminated the need for pre-transplant meds. When I do get flu-like
symptoms they are very few and far apart and last 1-2 days as opposed to weeks. I have a lot more energy, have lost weight without trying, have lowered my blood pressure, the weakness is gone and most of all, my doctors are impressed with my progress." Marie, Kirkland Lake
BodyTalk is truly an amazing health care system!! I was diagnosed with MS over 8 years ago and used BodyTalk to reverse all symptoms without using any drugs. My Son stopped using his asthma puffers after only one BodyTalk session. This summer, my back went out and I didn’t know why. It was so bad I thought I would not be able to work again. After three BodyTalk sessions, I was back on my feet and running around bases for baseball. J-R Daoust, Kirkland Lake
